Story
The Banonie Mwale Charitable Foundation was set up by Banonie Mwale to give children from his home village Nkhotakota in Malawi (Africa) the opportunity to have an education who otherwise would have not had access. The Foundation has recently raised funds to cover teacher salaries, school uniforms, and learning materials as well as iron sheeting and bricks with which to commence construction of a village school but much more help is needed to really make a difference.
While primary school is free in Malawi, there are not enough schools within easy reach of villages in many parts of the country and costs such as uniforms, pencils, notepads and shoes often prove too great for struggling subsistence farmers. Secondary school is not free and school fees (around $20 US per month) are unaffordable for the majority of families in Malawi. As a result, millions of children in Malawi never have the opportunity to experience an education.
Through small steps, the Banonie Mwale Charitable Programme aims to make a difference to the lives of children in remote villages through education.
Please help our cause. In return, you will be kept fully informed of progress of the school with photographs, videos and quarterly reports so you can see for yourself the difference you can make to a community.

7 years agoThank you, each and every one of you, for the support you've given to this primary school in Malawi. I've thanked a lot of you personally, but there are a lot of very generous "Anonymous" donations - so thank you to all of you for your generosity from the bottom of my heart! Anthony Joshua - your donation was also a huge surprise & enormously appreciated! Congratulations on the win!!! The £1715 raised will be transferred to the school project this week and now the rainy season is over, work recommences on completing the building! Jenny

7 years agoOne of our amazing supporters has travelled to Likuchi Village in Nkhota Kota, Malawi, and has put together this amazing video of her trip! She's met the village elders, and those helping build the primary school. Please take a look as it really shows what life is like in Nkhotakota. #educatingMalawi #fundraising #BanonieMwale Help us raise funds this Easter to finish building the primary school. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/educate-malawi
