Story
My name is Muyizi Edward, a Ugandan fashion designer and co-founder of Seamline Atelier, a contemporary fashion practice using clothing to tell stories and explore culture, identity and social realities through African design.
Over the years, fashion has become more than garments for me - it has become a way to connect people, preserve stories and create opportunities.
Following my participation in a creative programme in Milan, I was awarded a full scholarship through the Afro Fashion Association to pursue a Master’s degree in Sustainable Fashion Design at Accademia del Lusso in Milan, Italy.
This scholarship is a life-changing opportunity and covers my tuition fees. However, I still need support with the costs of relocating and living in Milan, including:
Flight costs
Student visa fees
Health insurance
Accommodation
Living expenses
School materials and equipment
Initial settlement costs
The estimated cost to make this journey possible is €14,000.
I am committed to contributing towards this goal through my creative work, including my upcoming collection “Earned Joy” — a collection inspired by this moment of opportunity, perseverance and hope. A portion of proceeds from the collection will go towards supporting my transition to Milan.
This journey represents years of dedication, and I believe that creativity grows through community. Every contribution, share or message of support helps bring this opportunity closer and allows me to continue developing as a designer while representing Uganda on an international stage.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
