    Story

Back in 2015 I participated in a school trip to the stunning country of Morocco. Our aim was to complete a trek through the Atlas mountains and enjoy the awe inspiring scenery. This trip became one of the best experiences of my life and when the chance arose for me to return, I had to take it. However this time it was for a cause.

What stood out to me on the trip were my interactions with the children in the mountain settlements. They lived in conditions completely different to what I am used to. Whats more, many of them were unable to get an eduation as the few schools in the area were sparsely seperated and difficult to get to. I was shocked to learn that this was a common occurence in the country. Furthermore, the families who do send their children to school, will almost always send their eldest boy. However this means that the girls in Morocco will remain uneducated as their parents cannot afford to put them through school.

Enabling for these young girls to get an education by supplying equiptment and building boarding houses for the girls to stay in while they attend school is the primary focus of Education For All (EFA). This is the charity which our group is focusing on raising money for, as we head back to Morocco to help the girls this October. If you want to find out more about this amazing charity the link is here: https://www.efamorocco.org to copy and paste and also at the top of this story to click.

In order to do this, 3 of us (Seb, Louis and Sam) out of the small group of 13 taking part in this trip have decided to do a sponsored bike cycle from our hometown of Bristol, all the way to Paris. We will be departing on august 27th from ashton court and returning the week after.

Our trip will involve 4 days of cycling through towns, cities and country roads of both countries, we will start at Ashton court in Bristol and end at the Arc de Triumph in the centre of Paris.

    Itinerary:

    Day 1- Bristol to Salisbury

Day 2- Salisbury to Portsmouth, Ferry- Portsmouth to Caen

    Day 3- Caen to Evreux

    Day 4- Evreux to Paris

(between £50-100 will go towards travel costs)

Sorry for the late post but just an update to say we have all safely arrived in Paris which means we have officially completed our sponsored cycle. It has been a long and difficult journey spanning over 4 days, while cycling a total of around 400km. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us in this journey and everyone who has donated to our chosen charity, Education For All Morocco.

Salisbury arrival time 4:50, despite the weather looking good for the first couple of hours, it finally caught up to us around frome where we had to cycle the rest of the trip in stormy conditions. Definitely wasn’t fun but that’s our most difficult day out the way at least! Big thank you to all our supporters so far as we have have recently broken our target of £1000 raised. Next stop Portsmouth.
