East Grinstead RFC are raising £4,266.00 to buy the machine England used to prepare for the recent Japan Rugby World Cup.
Can you or your business help us fund this amazing equipment for the club?
East Grinstead RFC have been given a brilliant opportunity to purchase Rhino’s new ‘Powahouse’ model scrummaging machine and the very piece of equipment that was recently on loan to England in their preparations and lead up to the Japan RWC.
We have been offered the machine for a very competitive price and as we really need a replacement to the current machine which is rather small and a struggle to fit against the existing sledge, we are hoping we can raise the funds. .

What a find for the club! This high-profile equipment would play a big role in preparing our forwards for the toughest of all tests and will be used by our senior men, women and Intermediates (U15’s and above). We are reaching out to our members, community and local businesses in the hope that their support could help us with funding.

The new Rhino Powahouse scrummage machine was developed in NZ after the change in engagement laws at the scrum; because winning was no longer just about the hit, but rather about maintaining the pressure after a simple engagement. The Powahouse has a spring recoil action that the pack needs to contend with after they engage as the springs push back! The observing coach can also see if the engaging pressure is being maintained throughout the duration of the scrum by the shape of the springs.
The current machine is static and small so only helps to some extent with the set-up of the scrum and not the whole process, however perfect for our younger members – so the plan is to refurbish and recommission later in the year.
