Story
We have been giving forever homes to cats in the United Kingdom since 2008. While we try to find a home for everyone, some just cannot realistically be placed with others, or they have already had so many relocations that they just cannot emotionally hold up to the stress. The occasional stray cat depends upon this home too.
We lost one home in 2015 to debt after illness brought the family bad fortune. We relocated with four cats that year and we have added five more to the lot, with one passing in that first year of 2015 to an unknown illness.
Our main supporter lost their income last year, and is just now restoring it after eighteen months of fighting, but another of our top three supporters is now in a fight to regain his employment after a denial of permission to work while immigration decisions follow.
During all this time without the main contributions to the rent on this location, we have been as much as £10,000 behind on rent, with that number decreasing to £7,414.64 in March of this year. We have managed to knock that down to £5,190, but the threshold to stop evection under court action is arrears less than £3,200. We have to knock off £2,900 in arrears before the 25th of April when our case goes final before the local court for eviction. If the eviction goes forward, we will have eight cats with no home, most with issues that makes relocation prohibitive.
Because we have self supported these cats, amongst dozens of others and the occasional dog, rabbit, guinea pig and bird, we have no channel to immediately seek donations, though we are in the process of registering a charitable organisation. We have lost about £600 pounds per month for the last eighteen months and it has led us to the final week to work with landlords of the property.
This request is not for support of the animals, we take care of all support of our residents. This is only to stop eviction and we will still have the final £3,200 arrears to clear of our own accord, which we believe we can do this summer. This is to keep the eight animal residents of this property in free range, uncaged living, as well as assist in maintaining a safe haven for future animals in need.
