Story
As many of you know, my name is Elana Murray. I’m 23 years old, a recent university graduate in mental health nursing and passionate horse rider. Just as I was about to step into the next exciting chapter of my life, everything changed. I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome—a rare and terrifying neurological disorder that left me temporarily paralyzed. Overnight, I went from chasing my dreams to fighting for the ability to walk… to hold a spoon… to simply move.
The road to recovery has been long, painful, and without question one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced. Thanks to the amazing love of my incredible mum and dad, the support of my boyfriend, friends, and the constant comfort of my dogs and horse, I’ve slowly been regaining my strength—and my independence🩷
As part of my journey, I’ve chosen to take on something bold: a sky dive. For me, it’s more than an adrenaline rush—it’s a symbol of hope, courage, and the reminder that recovery is possible. It’s my way of showing that no matter how far we fall, we are capable of rising again… often stronger than before.
This video captures that journey—before my diagnosis, through the darkest days, and now, into healing.
Thank you for being part of this chapter. By sharing my story, I hope to raise awareness of Guillain-Barré Syndrome and inspire others who may be walking a similar path.
I hope to raise money for the Cameron Hospital specifically the Sir George Sharp unit who do amazing work for people with neurological conditions! And have helped me with my recovery ❤️🩹 I cannot thank them enough!!
