Weʼve raised £105 to help with urgent roof repairs at All Saints' Church in Ashton-on-Mersey

    Sale, Cheshire
Funded on Tuesday, 25th April 2017

Don't have time to donate right now?

Our beautiful local church is in desperate need of roof repairs. All Saints' church in Ashton-on-Mersey celebrated its Golden Jubilee last year and is home to a fantastic community. We have had a quote for the repairs of £95,000. We've been fundraising for a number of months are on our way with almost £25,000 raised.

It's now time for me to step up and to coincide with the rash pledges to fitness we all tend to make in January I’ve committed to a rather daunting challenge to help out.

I’ll be cycling 2,000 km over a period of 50 days starting on 21 January. 2,000 km is 1,250 miles or the equivalent of 48 marathons! At 40 km (25 miles) each and every day I’m due to finish on the weekend of 12 March.

As anyone who knows me will be aware I’m built more for comfort than speed but it’s a great cause and there’s no excitement in doing anything that would be too easy is there now!

Any cheerleading you can provide would be most welcome as would sponsorship/donations.

I’ll keep you all updated on progress with all the gory details from behind the scenes of my mad adventure!

Well I'm currently 20 days in to my challenge and I'm happy to report I'm right on track with 800 km done and 1200 km to go. In addition to the donations here at JustGiving people have very kindly donated directly via PayPal and completed sponsorship forms at church. Taking all these together means the current total is £620. Huge thanks to all of you for your generosity. This is much appreciated and greatly needed since the initial estimate of £95,000 has now risen to £163,000 with the final quote.
