I've raised £500 to Help maintain Downall Green's Holy Trinity Cemetery and wall's. Buy a chainsaw, sand & cement, paint and brushes, loppers and spare parts

A team of volunteers have been working on the site of Holy Trinity Downall Green which is home to 10 Commonwealth war graves, the Minister of WW1, a Boer War grave, A soldier from Queen Victoria's hussars, graves from families across the world such as New Zealand, Canada & USA. A grave thats significant to the miners of Bryn Hall Colliery where the stone was dedicated by all the miners, the Crompton's that owned the factory in Ashton, loads of history. The church does not have the funds or the manpower to maintain the grounds, which are huge. Brambles, nettles and ivy are destroying the old stones and original walls. The war memorial site requires attention as do all the paths. There's overhanging trees and roots that are destroying the gravestones. In a nutshell the area is becoming unsightly and the team are in need of tools to help with the ongoing maintenance of the site. Any amount whatsoever is a bonus, even a £1, it will all go to a good cause and help to keep the grounds in good condition and hopefully encourage more interest. Thanks for reading the post.
