Hi, my name is Eleanor and I am a guide with the 1st Huntington Guides group in Chester. I have had the privilege of being selected to go to the World Scout Jamboree in 2019, which will be in West Virginia, America. This is an amazing opportunity that only comes up every four years; it will be attended by about 40,000 Guides and Scouts from around the world. It is an educational event that brings cultures together to develop leadership and life skills and is a unique event. As part of the experience I have to fundraise around £3000, to cover all costs and this is what your money would be going towards. These costs are made higher so that Guiding Units from poorer countries will pay less and therefore the opportunity is open to everyone.

I’m 13 years old and have been part of the Girl Guiding community since I was 5, and will be 15 at the time of the trip. I am very proud to have been successful for the selection for this once in a lifetime experience; I am really looking forward to meeting people from all corners of the world, sharing experiences and promoting friendship and unity. I think the trip will benefit me because it will give me the chance to develop as a person by improving my self-confidence and my independence skills as well as learning about other nations, cultures and traditions and making new friends.
