    Story

Musician and Writer Ella has suffered from Acute Trigeminal Neuralgia for ten years (often called the 'suicide disease' as it is so painful) - as well as congenital Hemiplegic Migraines. Due to the nature of her condition she struggles constantly to rehabilitate her right side before another hemiplegic episode arrives. She has now had a new chance of life from a brain operation. It is possible that she could become stronger and free of the Trigeminal Neuralgia altogether although she will always suffer from the congenital hemiplegic attacks. She needs help to overcome them- otherwise she will become bound to a wheelchair for the rest of her life and unable to use her right in general. She is corageous- During the last two years she has written a book with one hand, mostly without being able to see due to visual problems caused by her drugs -just on her ipad keyboard. Now a part of the book is to be filmed in Stourbridge next September . . Ella will be in the Midlands to help produce as part of her rehabilitation with your help and support for trained carers and assistance. She will also need suitable accomodation for when she does have an unavoidable episode. A new Social Enterprise will also be giving thousands of pounds worth film making equipment to a Stourbridge College for Adults with Learning Disabilities. The film of 'Harry's First Day -1844' will be made by an award winning professional filmmaker - at historic locations- and with a great deal of public participation too! .....And remember Ella desperately needs your help to try and rehabilitate.

Ella herself has created with great effort- storyboard videos and readings with her own voices and music on YouTube so you can watch and listen to the story of "Harry's First Day 1844" .- a travel back into history- a time she has been able to see in her mind- and recreate the world of the Glassmakers- it is Harry's First Day at the Glassworks- and some unexpected things happen, with some rich, broad- slightly rude humour! Typical of the area and authentic to the times.

Watch Ellas Video Diary through her brain operation - and the first days of her rehabilitation-Seen here, before her operation she explains in simple terms what her conditions are and the operation- (although when it came to it she had a much larger operation than originally anticipated)

I began the story of 'The Cone of Glass and Fire' during an intense episode of Trigeminal Neuralgia and Hemiplegic Migraines that simply did not stop for months. . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .. It was a focus in my mind to take me away from the pain. By the end of the episode I had the story. I told it to my partner, who is a writer- - he said- 'that's a novel Ella- write it NOW!' - and he put my hand on the keyboard. - So I did! I bagan writing!- . . . . . .it was slow at first as I learned to type with one hand - especially when my vision goes round and round like a tumble dryer. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Then I began learning more and researching . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Going to Stourbridge . . .finding out how it really is for glassmakers I wanted to make the story real- all through episode after episode of pain - . . .I remember collapsing in the the hotel in Stourbridge and another time going to interview glassmakers when I had taken my oromorph for the pain - (a type of morphine Ella is prescribed). . . . . . . . . . . . .Writing has kept me sane- provided the creative outlet, that I have needed since becoming ill- and a wonderful focus away from the intense pain of my conditions.. . . . . . . . . . . .When it was written- I began doing readings on YouTube for some friends who are dyslexic and would find it impossible to read- I found the voices coming easily - though I cannot do West Midlands, unfortunately. A friend who is a an award winning filmmaker - came back to me

He said- 'Harry's First Day' (a part of the story)would make a great film and that he would like to do it.

I hummed and haaa'ed - I knew it would need to be done properly- with historical and technical accuracy. . . . . . . . - as it is the story of the Glass making cones and how they worked - I realised that only someone with great knowledge of the era and victorian glass industry could produce it- . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and then i realised that was- me! So i said 'yes' - and set up a production company- A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE in The West Midlands- a hundred miles away from where I am living now. After my operation on Monday- it will be part of my rehabilitation to go there and become the production manager in 2018-

...............................before the PREMIERE at the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF GLASS IN 2019 and the EXHIBITION to accompany the feature. ELLA will be there to talk about her experiences and what she has gained . . . . . . . . . . . .

I know it will be very taxing. I will get tired often and need help or assistance- However, throughout my careeer - before I was a musician and writer, I had been a production/project manager prior to that . . . and my first ever job was in 'the rag trade' as a sample machinist and pattern cutter. So I can have the knowledge there to make or organise others for the period costuming we need too.. .I know I myself will need a lot of help -and assistance funding for those rehabilitating is not available. I had thought I would not be able to be involved - and then I was told about crowdfunding - I really need your help. I put so much of myself into writing this- it was immense for me- and I know how the film should be made. Noone else can be inside Harry and Jamie's heads like I can, but helping with the drama team will be extremely challenging for me after my operation.

For the shoot itself . . , . . . . ..We will need many people for the crowd scene when all the workers are going to the glassworks at the end of part one. . . . .That will be shot at the Black Country LIving museum where Peaky Blinders is shot. . . . I can't wait- I'm sure I will get tired-but I will have an assistant or two and a professional project manager . . . .a great friend of mine, Eliana Maniero- .she is 'Lili' other wise it would be difficult with Ella and Elia! She is coming all the way from Brazil . . .Imagine that- just for friendship and to help me re-habilitate! I feel so honoured. It will be a real professional production- .

with Richard O'Rourke directing and his film crew., but I know I will still have hemiplegic migraines-

but nothing stops me from creating what I want- there is always a way, I have found. It saves me from being depressed or 'woe is me' about my condition.

    About the storyboards she says-

I'm no artist- some of the drawings are very rudimentary- but they show what is in my mind of the story and how that could be translated to film

As well as local drama schools and the public, an important part of the film will be the drama unit of the RUSKIN MILL LAND TRUST from GLASSHOUSE COLLEGE in STOURBRIDGE who will work with Ella. They are an organisation for 16 to 25 year olds who face own their own challenges in life- a college for adults with learning difficulties. They will receive from Minkey Boo Productions thousands of pounds worth of film making equipment - to enable them to make their own films in the future. A real lasting legacy of Harry's First Day

The College works alongside glass makers and designers at The Ruskin Glass Centre-

You can watch the glass designers working when you go to visit and see the beautiful pieces they produce. Above you see Vic Bamforth a glass designer who with his brother Ian Bamforth with his jug making skills will make the 1840s jug with Darren Weed- dressed in 1840s authentic glassmakers costumes and the Glasshouse College Students playing supporting roles in the Glass Cone-

I'm really looking forward to workiing with Glasshouse College - it is a wonderful place - I really love The Ruskin Glass Centre- so beautiful. And the people who work there are wonderful creative people too - the glass designers and the marvellous organic cafe run by the Ruskin Mill students- with thier own produce and bread - it's so great and a relaxing place to unwind during a visit

Here you can see a little picture of a fella on his way to work- it's part of the storyboard sepences on YouTube- the link is above. Please help us- and be a part of Harry's First Day yourself - you can watch all the way through- see how well my rehabilitation goes - and the struggles there will be - I'm sure we'll do it! . . . . .I don't think of failure. . . I'm so glad I have this chance to create something that can be used (with out the naughty language) as a learning resource. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . If you contribute and help Ella - you too will become a part of Harry's First Day
