Despite never having been a keen runner, or even a runner at all, I've decided to run a half marathon in October and raise money for The Unity Centre, a Glasgow based organisation that supports refugees and asylum seekers in Scotland.

The centre is mostly made up of volunteers who do extremely important and practical work to fight deportations and detentions. Far more than a charitable institution the Unity Centre was born out of a desire to actively protest the treatment of innocent people as criminals.
In a time of immense hostility at a number of levels including government legislation around the politics of migration and asylum, The Unity Centre works to show active opposition to this narrative providing a platform of solidarity and achieves real results.
