Story

We are raising £13,000 to buy an electric wheelchair for Ravi, one of the most determined, bright and ambitious children we know. This wheelchair would be truly life-changing.

Ravi has spinal muscular atrophy type 2, a condition that severely affects his mobility. Despite this, he is an incredibly intelligent and motivated child with big dreams for his future including becoming a doctor one day. His ambition is huge but his physical disability creates daily barriers that limit his independence, his ability to explore and the opportunities he can access both in and out of school.

An electric wheelchair — specifically the Q300 mobility chair recommended by his physiotherapists — would give Ravi the freedom he deserves. It would allow him to move around the playground independently, join in with activities like OPAL without needing an adult right beside him and access more areas of school quickly and safely alongside his friends.

Outside of school, this wheelchair would help Ravi access our local town centre, attend after school clubs and enjoy everyday experiences that many children take for granted.

Ravi’s mum is doing everything she can for all three of her children. With two older children in secondary school and future university costs to plan for — potentially at international fee rates — finding the funds for specialised equipment like this is incredibly difficult. Yet she continues to support Ravi in every possible way and is hopeful that this wheelchair will have a massive positive impact on his wellbeing and future.

That’s where we, as a community, can make a difference.

Every donation, no matter the size, brings Ravi closer to the freedom, independence and opportunities he truly deserves.

Thank you for helping change Ravi’s life. ❤️
