Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
So when I started my little challenge, I got to thinking about stuff I really care about - and there's lots - but as I happened to thumb through my copy of Porter magazine, I saw that their summer issue was dedicated to bringing awareness of the Elephant crisis to their readers and I knew I had to support it.
So incredibly sadly, and still relatively unknown, Elephants are STILL being slaughtered for ivory, right now, as we speak, and something like EVERY 15 MINUTES one is killed.
Now I've had the privilege to spend time with a family of Elephants, up close, on a holiday and just being near them is magical and brought tears to my eyes.
They are so precious, and the thought that they could be completely wiped off the face off the planet in my lifetime, is something I couldn't bear thinking of.
So my silly little running and fundraising will donate to The Elephant Crisis Fund.
Also, as I take to the streets and green spaces of England for this challenge, a second, closer-to-home cause was something I felt resonated.
Living in Surrey I am spoilt by the sheer abundance of beautiful countryside and wild outdoor land to choose from, however even this needs protecting, as not so long ago I had to sign a petition and help defend a local piece of green space - apparently protected 'green belt' land - and the only real wild landscape where I actually live, from being ripped up and used for building contracts.
And as someone who utterly cherishes mother nature and the outdoors, I feel saving and protecting precious green land is something so vital right now in the UK as well as throughout the rest of the world.
So for those reasons, I will also be donating half of the funds raised to The Open Spaces Society UK.
Thankyou very much for your support. It means a lot to me, and all the Elephants and trees.

About the fundraiser
Surrey, United Kingdom
I decided to run at least a mile and a half EVERYDAY (and yes that means on holiday AND Christmas day) until the end of the year - just for fun (and fitness). Then I thought, well, this is silly enough to call a real 'challenge' and actually raise money for something meaningful.
