Weʼre raising £100,000 to raise funds and awareness for Action Medical Research by rowing across the Atlantic Ocean in Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2021.
What is crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Story
Although our paths have varied hugely since we joined the forces in the mid-80s, we have all retained the adventurous spirit that service life promotes. Each of us have tested our physical & mental limits over the years. Now we pit ourselves against the mighty Atlantic Ocean in “The World’s Toughest Row”.
For us this is not just a test of physicality and seamanship but an opportunity to raise as much as we possibly can for our chosen charity; Action Medical Research, the charity fighting to help sick babies and children. Action funds critical research which helps find answers that can lead to vaccinations, treatments and cures for childhood diseases and premature birth. These are the answers that save and change lives.
With teamwork ingrained in our DNA we will work tirelessly to get to the start line before aiming to row the entire distance, some 3000 miles, in just 37 days. With the ever present dangers of the Atlantic Ocean, rowing 2 hours on and 2 hours off will take reserves of strength, endurance and sheer determination.
The target we have set ourselves represents the brief life of baby Elijah, a premature but much-loved son and brother, who sadly lived for just 37 days. As Team Elijah’s Star we will demonstrate the possible, to raise money for the capable, in order that they in turn can assist those in most need of help.
To donate under £100, please use this page and take the opportunity to send a word of encouragement to the team. For all donations above £100, please go to https://elijahsstar.com/ to see exciting ways of helping the team along their journey (this also cuts out the JG processing fees!). Thank you in advance for your support, it is very much appreciated.
