Story

Molly was born with CDH (congenital diaphragmatic hernia) which was diagnosed in her mother's womb at her 21 week scan and she was given the devastating option of terminating the pregnancy as the doctors said there was only a 10% chance of survival. CDH is where the diaphragm fails to form through the pregnancy and leaves a large hole in the diaphragm which lets her abdominal organs, stomach, intestine, bowels, lungs, spleen all push up into the chest cavity and squash the baby's lungs and prevents the lungs from growing and moves the heart right to the side of the chest. Since birth, Molly has been treated in the PICU (pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and was receiving ECMO treatment due to heart and lung failure and has had 5 diaphragm repairs and brain, heart and lung life saving surgerys and to date has undergone 29 operations and further treatment is required. Our aim is to support Molly and her family through this heartbreaking ordeal.
