Story

Archangel Michael Hospice Cyprus, started as a vision in the minds of a group of UK ex-pats living in Cyprus many years ago. I have personally seen the Hospice being built from the ground-up. The project was set up using the simple idea of buying a brick in the memory of a loved one. I was one of these who bought a brick. I bought the brick in memory of my sister who died aged 7 when I was only 6 myself. Slowly but surely the funds were built up and they were able to build the Hospice with it opening about 5 and a half years ago, using the funds so many generous people donated. The Hospice operates purely on donations, they do not receive any funding from the government what so ever, however they still have to pass State Health Inspections, the same that the hospitals have to. The Hospice has the only dictated Children's wing in the Middle East. Unfortunately due to the global pandemic and travel restrictions, the wonderful donations they have received over the years has dried up. The Hospice has been very proud of the fact they have managed to remain 'Covid free', in fact they have not had a single case in any of the patients, staff or volunteers and remain one of the few medical facilities on the Island to remain 'Covid free'.

More about Archangel Michael Hospice Cyprus:

'Adding life to days, when days can no longer be added'

The Hospice is situated overlooking the Mediterranean in the tranquil village of Mess Chorio, Paphos which is the ideal location to provide the care we offer.

The state of the art Hospice has nine spacious bedrooms and offer palliative and respite care to all those in need, regardless of nationality, race, religion, or the nature of the illness. It is also the only facility on the Island designated to offer palliative care to children. We also welcome relatives who wish to stay with their loved ones whilst in residence.

Traditional as well as complementary therapies including physiotherapy are available. In addition a reception area provides both Cypriot and English assistance. There are also dining facilities with a comfortable lounge area, roof garden and terrace. A new addition to Archangel Michael Hospice is 'The Garden of Memories' it provides a wonderful place for patients, their family & friends as well as visitors to relax and enjoy the beautiful tranquil surroundings.

The provided is FREE of charge, but not without cost, so donations, legacies and fundraising events are essential for the maintenance of this vital service.

Funding comes via our shops, our registered charity The St. Michael Hospice Charity and our UK based charity, which qualifies for UK gift aid, the A.M.H fundraising Ladies, based at the Hospice and many other fundraising groups. The Hospice is staffed by fully qualified and registered nurses supported by a team of trained volunteers. Our medical team is led by one of the most qualified Doctor. All our Doctors are providing their expertise free of charge to support the Hospice.

The Hospice treats the person, instead of the diseases. We focus on the family, instead of just the individual. We emphasise the quality of life, instead of its duration. Our care allows terminally ill patients and their families to experience the end of life together, in the comfort and security of home or a home-life setting. The Hospice works closely with other similar organisations, for the example Cancer charities, to ensure continuity of care between the Hospice and home.

Please help us to continue by supporting us in or mission 'Adding life to days, when days can no longer be added to life'
