Story

Hey everyone!

I was originally heading to South Africa on 1st Feb 2021, however Boris' announcement putting the country on to the red list meant I had to delay my trip. I was planning on going January 2022, but now the country has been red listed again!

My trip has been fully funded by myself - my flights, accommodation, food and the programme itself (Just to be clear, as I had people confused thinking I was asking people to pay for me to "go on safari" which is absolutely not the case.) The programme sees me working with conservation projects and several different charities and this is where I would love your help.

It would be wonderful to give these charities some donations while I am there. They rely on funding for their incredibly amazing work that they do.

The volunteer programme is through a company called The Mighty Roar. I'll be working with a marine conservation program at first assisting on a variety of research projects where I'll get the chance to study dolphins, great white sharks, whales, seals and other marine animals up close. I'll be working alongside some of the top Marine Biologists in South Africa, so I'm very excited for this.

I'll then be heading to stay on a game reserve called Amakala - Amakala really is leading the way in conservation projects. I'll be working alongside vets monitoring all kinds of wildlife including Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, Zebra, Giraffes, Elephants and Rhinos to name but a few.

I won't just be working with animal charities over there - I'll be heading to some local schools and children's homes providing basic English teaching and I might even whip out the old dance shoes and give them a class or two!

The money raised will be split evenly across the charities I'm working with for vital conservation efforts of endangered species. I will also be buying pens, pencils, paper, school books, T-shirts, toys and more for the children and donating to their local charities.

Thank you so much to Chris at The Mighty Roar for this once in a lifetime opportunity - I cannot wait to get started. And finally, thank you so much for all of your donations in advance. Remember, a comment or share of this post is just as wonderful as a donation.

I truly appreciate all of your help!
