My brother Ferdi and his Fiancee Ella had a beautiful baby boy, Jax 8 weeks ago, sadly a couple of hours after giving birth Ella was told she needed tests on a growth that had developed on her neck toward the end of her pregnancy. On the same day she was sent for a CT scan and with Jax just 4 days old she was back in hospital to have her thyroid removed and a biopsy. Days later they got the devastating news that she had stage 3/4 high grade Lymphoma and she started an aggressive treatment regime straight away. Ella has been in and out of hospital ever since.
She's been so amazing and brave and Ferdi has been amazing too, as her full time carer and looking after Jax with lots of help from grandparents and aunties.
What's great is that Ella is responding well to treatment and the whole family has pulled together to support them.
The biggest challenge though is that Ferdi needs to be available to look after Ella and Jax but Ferdi's work is free lance in Media so if he doesn't work there is no income to support the family. He's already had to turn away key opportunities that he had worked hard to secure. Also grandparents and aunties while keen to help as much as possible don't live near by and are having to drop everything to travel to London to be able to be there for the family, this is unfortunately not sustainable in the long term.
We are trying to generate the funds so they don't have to worry about finances and living expenses and can get on with surviving cancer and raising a new baby.
Once the treatment is finished they are still facing a long journey back to recovery physically and emotionally.
We hope that the amount we are targeting will allow them the time and support to do that.
