Story

Enactus Nottingham is a not-for-profit, student-led organisation that exists within the University of Nottingham. We work to transform the lives of people in need through the power of business. We do this by setting up social enterprises that provide employment and their by-product does both social and environmental good.

All the money raised from this will go straight to our amazing projects, including (but not limited to):

Foodprint: Nottingham's first social supermarket, located in Sneinton. In the UK, 6 million tonnes of edible food are thrown into landfill every year. At the same, 15% of children in Sneinton live in food poverty. We work with our partner organisations across the city, ranging from Waitrose to the Salvation Army, to redistribute food both locally and affordably. We bring it back to our store and sell it for far less than the original price. Find out more: https://www.foodprint.io/

SANkofa: 1 in 5 Ghanaians do not have access to a toilet. Something so simple that we take for granted could really improve the lives of so many. SANkofa therefore tackles 3 issues with one simple solution: safe, clean toilets. Installing toilets reduces rates of sexual assault, improves hygiene by reducing open defecation and decreases the price of fertiliser for farmers as we take the waste and turn it into more affordable fertiliser. CodeX: only 16% of adults on the autistic spectrum are in full-time employment. On top of this, 63% of neuro-diverse children are not in schools that their parents feel best support them. CodeX therefore aims to increase their employability by teaching them the basics of coding and providing them with an exciting educational outlet. Not only this, CodeX have begun work with girl's schools to tackle the prominent issue of women in technology. Across Europe, only 7% of tech-industry positions are filled by women. We will therefore encourage young girls to pursue a career in coding by giving them the confidence to know that they can. Find out more: https://www.enactusnottingham.org/codex

Not only would you be donating to an incredible cause, you would also be saving Ellie and Becky from a lot of embarassment by helping them to win, considering they have been in charge of running this event for nearly 3 years. Please donate, every penny counts. Help us make our enterprises the best they can be!
