What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Over the last decade, Chorlton has become an affluent area and is known for being home to many artists, musicians and skilled professionals. It is time to bring residents’ professional skills and abilities to the benefit of the wider community.

This year, we have had the online shop up and running, run three different pop up shop events, including a Christmas Market, and have run five arts for wellbeing workshops for adults with long term health conditions.

Next year, CH+ would like to develop the F-Art club into a closed, inclusive arts-for-wellbeing 8 week course that will work on a ‘pay-what-you-feel’ model for people suffering with long term health problems. The course will be held at a local venue that is wheelchair accessible and will end with a week long exhibition of participant's work. Participants will be invited to make things to sell on the shop, as well as for themselves.

CH+ will work on an asset-based community development model, aiming to provide support for existing community groups in aspects such as venue hire and social media/marketing support.

A ‘What would you like to see in your community?’ feature will enable CH+ to help individuals or groups evolve their interests into sustainable and self-led community ventures.

Why the delay?

Hi, I’m Ellie. I am taking a year out of my MA in Social Work in order to have some major surgery, starting in February. The shop and the course are things that I can set up now and run comfortably whilst recovering.

Some funding is required to get the organisation off the ground and registered as a Community Interest Company – initially this will cover administrative costs of running the shop, materials for workshops, marketing and recruitment, refunding volunteer expenses, and hopefully a small monetary recompense for yours truly.

F-Art Clubs have come to an end of this year, and we look to start them up again early January 2019. You can have a look and keep up to date with shop news, F-Art Club pictures and information about our upcoming Christmas Market at the CH+ website: Thank you again everyone who has popped down to join in, purchase some goodies, make a donation or just said hi! We hope to see you all at the market on Sunday!

CH+ will: - Provide an online database of community ventures and resources for self-led groups - Offer free advice and support to existing and potential groups in the community - Organize exhibitions of, and the sale of, artwork by local artists from in and around the community who do not currently have representation for their work - Run a variety of ad-hoc workshops, events and day-trips for adults and young people in the area

I graduated in 2015 from Oxford University and am currently studying an MSc in Psychology. Unfortunately I had to take time out of my Social Work MA due to worsening mobility and health. I've really enjoyed running CH+, and am passionate about keeping the workshops going in 2019.
