Story
I'm trying to raise £800 to fund my place on a trip to work with Cry in the Dark in Romania
As part of my leadership course I’m going to Luncani, a village in Romania on 1st June to work with a charity called Cry in the Dark at Casa Lumina.
For the past 20 years Cry in the Dark have provided food, shelter and education for children and young adults with special needs at Casa Lumina, which is a home for life for these children.
Each year, a group of Manor School students go to Romania for a week to support the work of Cry in the Dark. Everyone who goes, staff and students alike, have found it a life-changing experience.
For a week, myself and 14 friends will be running days with the children, going on trips with the nurses, helping with a building project for the community and much, much more.
Self funding my trip
To be able take my place I need to raise £800 to both self fund the trip and donate £100 to Cry in the Dark.
To try and fund my place I will be walking the Yorkshire three peaks - a 24 mile walk over three mountains, Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
At 6am on the 6th May I'm going to attempt the challenge, climbing (hopefully) 1,585 metres along the way. The aim is to complete the 24 miles in under 12 hours!
I’ve been training hard to get ready for the challenge but need your help to sponsor this journey so I may take a more meaningful one to Romania.
Thank you for your support!
Ellie :)

6 years agoHi everyone, sorry for the delay in posting an update. I've had so many generous donations away from JG. The result? I am just £8.50 off raising my target. I'll put that in myself if I have to and if I raise any more then that will of course go to Cry in the Dark. So that means I've done it !Thanks so much for all your support. Feet and body fully recovered but not sure if I want to do the 3 Peaks again ! Ellie :)

6 years agoMy feet were so sore on the way back down from the last peak and the relief of getting back to Horton where we'd started from was huge...... .......I clocked over 60,000 steps on mum's fitbit so it's no wonder my feet were sore! Thanks to everyone for all the messages of support with a special shout out to Romilly and Grandma T who were up early to wish me luck. I've collected over £150 and counting away from JG so pleased to say the collection is going well. I'll hopefully have a final total by next weekend. Ellie :)

6 years agoThanks for all the amazing support. I completed the challenge on Sunday. Dad, Hershey and I set off early on Sunday morning and did Pen-y-Ghent and the long walk to Ribblehead where we swapped Hershey (tired, slowing our pace) for Harry for the second peak of Whernside. Apparently the temperatures were record breaking for the weekend and it was very hard work! Mum replaced Dad and Haz for the last leg to Ingleborough which I found the hardest.....
