Story
From the 29th of January to the 13th of February, myself and 19 other students from Colchester Institute will be travelling to Goa, India. Where we will be working with the Novi Survat charity. This children's charity provides the street children with education, nutritious food and medical attention. If the children do not attend the school then they will be sent to beg on the streets by their parents.
During the 15 days we will be working in a school teaching the children basic maths and literacy skills. We will also be giving the children the opportunity to have a two-course meal each day. Before the children leave the school we will be taking them on days out such as going to the beach and on a boat trip. Along with working with the children at the school we will also be working in a children's HIV Orphanage and a Special Needs Centre helping children with Cerebral Palsy.
After the children leave the school they will hopefully graduate to a government school. When the children complete their education at the age of sixteen they are almost guaranteed to find employment. This income should provide for the whole family and help them leave poverty.
Thank you for reading about the Novi Survat charity. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and all donations go directly to the charity.
