About 4.15pm on Wednesday 8th March Ellie Hammell who is 11-years old was airlifted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool with severe head injuries.

Every parents worst nightmare! Our thoughts, support and love go to her mum Brigitta.

Ellie was buying an ice cream from a van on the corner of Sneckyeat Road (opposite West Cumberland Hospital), and was then hit as she crossed the road by a bus.

We are told that Ellie is in a 'stable' condition.
