Story

Elliott is an 11 year old boy who lives in Penzance, Cornwall and attends Heamoor Primary School.

When Elliott was 8 years old he was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour called medulloblastoma. Elliott underwent several brain surgeries and received an intensive schedule of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

We are so grateful he remains disease free, but it isnt without its complications. Elliott has been left with disabilities that effects his every day life. After surgery he developed a condition called posterior fossa syndrome, a side effect which has meant he has had to relearn to walk, talk, use his hands and swallow all over again. He has come on leaps and bounds but still relies on a wheelchair to transport himself around

Elliott currently has a manual NHS provided wheelchair, it is very basic, bulky and requires somebody to push him around. This has a huge effect on his confidence, social skills and independence.

Elliott is due to start at Mounts Bay Academy in September, there are so many gaps between him and his peers and we would love to build a bridge in allowing him to regain the independence he had before he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

The Power Chair has a high/low setting which would mean he would be able to join in comfortably with his hobbies he enjoys such as baking. It would be a vital piece of equipment in allowing Elliott a life as close to his peers as possible.

Elliott has raised a substanial amount of money for others since 2018 by organising a Toy Appeal to help children spending Christmas in hospital, he has also raised money to donate equipment to those in need during lockdown and completed a sponsored relearning to walk for Penlee Lifeboat. He is always thinking of others, and the total monies he has raised is just over £20000.

He has done so much for others, despite everything hes been through. Electric Powerchairs of this type are phenomenally expensive, any support that can be given with that will be very generous and most appreciated. Any monies raised over the target, will be stored in a separate account to use towards the ongoing maintenance.

Thank you so much for reading.
