THE CAUSE

'The Ami Goodwin Adopt A Camper Program' helps send campers to Camp Allen who otherwise may not be able to afford it. Camp Allen is life changing for many people, however some people cannot afford to attend, this program helps those who need the financial help to experience a life changing summer camp.

THE BACKSTORY

In 2013 I applied to work at a summer camp in America. As a young and probably naive 22 year old, who hadn't really seen much of the World, this was my time to explore the great unknown, a dream come true, travelling across the World to see the USA!

What I didn't realise at the time was that in fact, it was not the travelling that was to be the making of me, it was the summer camp experience itself. I had never once thought about special needs as an option for the summer, but that was all to change when, now a good friend of mine Michael messaged me and requested an interview. The rest they say, is history...

Now 4 summers on Camp Allen has done so much for me, for the staff, for those who attend and for the families who send their loved ones to the camp and this incredible work has been going on long before I was a counsellor and it will continue long after I am gone.

THE PLAN

SO, my plan, roughly in the next 4 months, will be to complete a 5k run, a 10k run, a half marathon and a full marathon. I have set myself a target of completing all 4 races by next February/ March meaning that on average I will complete roughly a race per month, in reality the 5k and 10k will be done in the same month.
