I've raised £500 to Help Ellis support girls and young women in Uganda

In August 2019 I will be jetting off to Uganda with The University of Salford and the Teams4U charity group to hopefully make a big impact on the community there. We will be working on the ‘develop with dignity’ campaign which provides knowledge and support to girls and young women in this poor area who have had no form of sex education, family planning or the ‘facts of life’. Girls cannot take part in sports or physical activity due to the lack of suitable clothing and equipment, and too many miss school every month as they are too poor to own underwear and sanitary products, which means it is incredibly difficult for them to escape the cycle of poverty through education and empowerment. These girls, like me, love to learn and are determined to get an education - I can’t imagine that being negatively impacted on every single month just because I’m female. The monthly cycle is bad enough living in the UK with everything we need! Our aim is to provide: reusable sanitary pads which can be used in Africa; vital education including personal care/hygiene, safe sex and family planning; STI testing including for AIDs and HIV; and physical literacy and confidence through sporting activities... Most of all to give the girls hope about their future and the equipment, empowerment and ambition to succeed! Any kind donations will be greatly appreciated by myself and the community in Uganda. Thank you ❤️
