    Story

I see homeless people every day, whilst living in Manchester I have came across more homeless people in one area than I've ever seen! I decided to scrap Christmas cards this year and put the money I would have spent towards something useful - a Christmas care pack. I spent only £15 of my own money to make 5 simple care packs and went to hand them out. I posted a message on social media and the response was amazing - people wanted to donate so I made a JustGiving page! I have been able to make loads more packs, with even better items, and also buy warm clothes, blankets and pillows for people sleeping on the streets which I carry around in my little pink suitcase which also includes small tins of beans and sausage, macaroni cheese, ravioli and spaghetti with spoons, dog food and treats for those with dogs, protein yogurts, sweets and bananas. The pack is in a zip lock food bag to keep the items dry, they now contain socks, underwear, gloves, a hat, wipes, roll on deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, plasters, a bottle of water, crisps, a protein cereal bar, multivitamins, polos, soothers or lockets, lip balm, waterproof poncho and bits of other non-perishable food that is easy to carry. The female packs contain the same items (female versions) as well as a mini can of dry shampoo, hair bobbles, a comb and some sanitary towels and tampons. I have sat with the homeless and talked about their experiences and stories - it really is heartbreaking. They appreciate even just having someone to talk to for a while as they are very lonely, bored and many suffer with mental health issues. I try to give them as much advice and words of support as I can using my knowledge from my psychology degree I am studying. Even 50p can help towards making a care pack, or any items or ideas for the packs would be much appreciated! It's the season for giving after all ❤️
