Story
Today we received the long awaited news that was both massively positive, but also fairly devastating. After several years of Ellis struggling with many debilitating issues including Cerebral Palsy, he has been accepted to have SDR surgery( Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy). Both his physiotherapist and surgeon have advised me that will be life changing for him by reducing the spasticity in his legs and feet. This means he will have a much higher chance of walking for longer periods of time using his frame. Everybody who knows Ellis knows how desperate he is to walk and be more independent and this opportunity would be a dream come true for us all. That being said, following a strict assessment, Ellis was graded a ‘level 4’ for the surgery which means that it cannot be funded by the NHS and subsequently comes at a cost of £16,000.
As any mother would be, i am determined to find a way to raise the money to get my son the help he needs. I am hoping and praying that with the help from my amazing friends, family and everybody on Facebook that we will get there, and I will be able to see Ellis taking his first independent steps in the near future.
