After losing lovely Lenny at just 8years of age, we wanted to find a companion for Stumpy - and for us. I was aware of Many Tears Animal Rescue, through a couple of longstanding customers who had rehomed dogs from them, but had no idea just how many dogs, cats and horses MTAR care for. We came home from Llanelli with the giant puppy-monster that is Taggle (and one of those is more than enough!) However, they rehome literally hundreds of dogs every week, many being unsold litters and ex-breeding stock. In spite of the large numbers, they assess each individual dog really thoroughly, and ensure they're all vaccinated and healthy, before carefully matching them against potential new homes. I was really impressed by them. Being a charity, they rely solely on donations and volunteers, and as I live too far away to help out with their work directly, getting sponsorship for running 13.1 miles in the Great Birmingham Run on 7th May, is my way of giving something back.
