Story

I’m raising money for UK disabled dog charity Broken Biscuits, who have recently brought over a group of incredibly brave dogs from Harbin SHS Rescue in China. These dogs have already endured so much in their lives, and many of them are living with disabilities after surviving unimaginable conditions.

They now have a chance at safety, love, and a future — but they need ongoing specialist care, rehabilitation, and support.

💛 Why this means so much to me

In late 2025, I travelled to China to volunteer with Slaughterhouse Survivors (SHS), a rescue that saves dogs from the meat trade and other horrific situations. During my time there, I worked closely with their veterinary team and helped care for hundreds of dogs.

That experience changed my life — and it’s where I met my dog, Bee.

Bee was rescued from a breeding facility and was extremely fearful of humans. When I first met her, she wouldn’t even make eye contact and would hide in fear. I spent hours each day sitting with her, slowly building trust.

By the end of my trip, she had started to wag her tail when she saw me. I knew I couldn’t leave her behind.

🐶 Bee’s Journey

When Bee arrived in the UK, her journey was far from over. She became seriously unwell with pancreatitis and required intensive treatment, including a feeding tube.

It was a really difficult time — she was scared, in pain, and didn’t understand that we were trying to help her. But she fought through it.

Now, just a couple of months later, she is a completely different dog.

🐾 Why I’m Fundraising

Not every dog is as lucky as Bee.

Broken Biscuits Disabled Dog Charity has taken in dogs from the same rescue in Harbin — many of whom are disabled due to abuse, injury, or neglect. These dogs need ongoing veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, specialist equipment and loving care.

Their care is costly, but absolutely life changing.

🙏 How You Can Help

Every donation, no matter how small, will go towards giving these dogs the life they deserve.

If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page — it really does make a difference.

❤️ Thank You

From Bee, from me, and from all the dogs whose lives you’ll help change — thank you so much for your support.

ABOUT THE CHARITY

Lincolnshire based disabled dog charity Broken Biscuits are dedicated to giving a second chance to dogs whose lives have been changed by injury or disability. With the help of donations, they provide life-changing mobility aids, rehabilitation, and expert guidance, helping these dogs rediscover their freedom, confidence, and joy. At its heart, the charity believes a disability should never define a dog’s future. Every contribution helps a dog live the happy life they deserve. By supporting Broken Biscuits, you’re not just donating—you’re giving hope, dignity, and a future to dogs who might otherwise be overlooked.
