- Funded on Sunday, 7th June 2020
Don't have time to donate right now?
Today many small museums and heritage sites are facing financial ruin.
We're asking for your support to fuel our campaign to protect them. This is our memory, our past, our inheritance. The team at History Hit is launching this campaign to safeguard some of these hugely important heritage sites from the economic and operational challenges of the coronavirus outbreak.
At times of great crisis in history, societies in Britain and across the world have frequently shown astonishing determination to preserve cultural heritage. During World War Two, mammoth effort was required to relocate thousands of works of art and artefacts from London's National Gallery to a disused slate mine at Manod, Wales and shield them from Blitz bombardment. Young activists in Cairo's Tahrir Square formed a human chain around the National Museum to protect it from looting in the January 2011 uprising. We're asking you to please donate what you can at this present moment of crisis.
We will distribute funds raised among a number of struggling museums and heritage sites.
Furthermore, History Hit are committing to continue our support for every single organisation we offer a grant to. We'll share their stories via podcasts or short films on our sVOD site so that everyone can access the precious insights into our past. Where possible, we'll host live on-site events to showcase the preservation work and fascinating histories your donation will help to protect.
We understand that people across the world are going through a period of enormous hardship, and ask those who are in a position to do so to donate whatever they can to our emergency heritage fund.
