What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

We're Charlie and Rosie, two Emergency Medicine Doctors based in Exeter, UK. We've decided to switch our scrubs for the sea, salt and swell of the Atlantic Ocean. We’re taking part in the 2020 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, the world's toughest rowing race and have set our sights on breaking the women's pairs world record of 50 days.We plan to use the row to research the comparison of women and men's physiology & psychology in ultra-endurance events.

We have chosen to support 3 charities that we work closely with and feel are of high significance for the people of Devon - Devon Air Ambulance, RD&E Charity and RNLI. We love the idea that our charities encompass saving lives by air, land and sea.

Working in the Emergency Department, we know only too well that in a life-threatening situation, every second counts. The Devon Air Ambulance Trust provides a helicopter emergency medical service for the most severely injured or unwell patients in Devon. Last year, the Air Ambulance helped over 1000 patients.

The RD&E Charity provides services to thousands of patients every year that the NHS is unable to offer. This includes over 120 different funds supporting individual wards, departments or patient groups. We see first hand the benefits that this holistic charity has for our patients.

RNLI Lifeboats provide a 24/7 search and rescue service to protect the coastline. In Devon the coast plays an integral part in our daily lives - as a place of work, leisure or training(!). However, the sea can change in an instant and when that happens, it is volunteers who are there to save the day. There are on average 26 launches a day, assisting over 8000 people a year.

We are overwhelmed by the current support we have received and would like to thank you all.
