In December 2016, two members of staff from Emersons Green Vets4pets are volunteering with Livingstone Animal Protection Services, Zambia.
We are hoping to raise funds to contribute towards their vaccination and neutering programmes. Dogs can be vaccinated against Rabies from a little as 50p and neutered from a little as £20.
Livingstone Animal Protection Service (LAPS) was set up in 2014 by a group of animal-loving friends to try to improve the health and welfare of domestic animals in the Livingstone area. Our main focus is community outreaches where we take veterinary services to people who are otherwise unable to access them. In this way we can reach dogs who otherwise would never see a vet and never be vaccinated. We often also find untreated diseases and wounds, malnourished dogs and fly-bitten ears. We use this opportunity to talk about appropriate care and encourage responsible ownership. We also do school visits with our own dogs to talk to children about how to behave with dogs, how to avoid dog bites, and to help them realise dogs can be their best friends. Although not our primary activity, we also rescue and rehome street dogs. We want to do more of these activities in the future as well as offering spay and neuter services."
