Hi there, I am Emilia, I'm a severely autistic trans woman struggling to establish an independent life.

During June I fled my spouse after the sustained abuse became too much to bear.

Since then I have spent time on the street, in sheltered accommodation, in cheap hotels a night at a time and couch surfed a bit.

Through this, I suffered mistreatment at the hands of people I turned to for help, endured death threats and several other extreme situations.

I tried pursuing formal assistance: that only resulted in more trauma and I still faced homelessness. It seems that there is little support provision for anyone both severely autistic and transgender through official avenues.

Since Christmas I'm back to living with my spouse as I have no other options. The trauma I experienced trying to distance myself in the first place has made things harder and my spouse - who is also not well - still loses control and falls back into abusive and dangerous patterns of behaviour. I am worried at what could potentially ocurr the more time I spend here.

I need money to afford renting my own place.

There are a few bureaucracies I'll need to tackle for being entitled for benefits. I already tried to navigate these, but I struggled to do so while under this level of distress and instability. I simply need some certainty, a roof over my head and some time to heal. Then I will be far more able to get back in the driving seat.

If you can offer me some assistance to help get some safety and stability, it would mean the world to me. I don't need or want much. Just safety, security and independence.

thank you so much.

Emilia.
