Story
Emilia Lily is a happy and determined 4 year old little girl from North Yorkshire, England. She is a triplet born at 30 weeks gestation along with her brother Joshua and twin sister Olivia and also has a big sister Georgia (6) who absolutely adores her!
At just five days old we were told the unexpected news after a relatively straightforward pregnancy that Emilia had suffered a brain bleed which had affected the development of the part of her brain responsible for movement. It is believed that at some point in utero Emilia did not have the oxygen that she needed which caused damage to the development of her brain and has left her with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. She now has limited control over her muscles and is unable to sit, stand or walk unaided and isn’t able to talk yet.
Emilia needs 24/7 care and utilises a multifunctional chair, stander, walker, lycra suit, and specially made shoes all to help her posture, improve the health of her hips and help build bone strength and core strength and teach her brain new pathways of movement. Her condition greatly benefits from as much professional input and therapy as we can get for her.
Emilia is making massive strides, however we need your help in raising funds for equipment and therapies to improve her quality of life and independence. She currently has private physiotherapy and conductive education weekly and greatly benefits from attending intensive therapy programmes over the school holidays. There is also a possibility of future surgery which would involve a trip to America to improve her muscle function and ability to move.
We have numerous fundraising activities planned:
