    Story

On Sunday 30th May 2021 (after being postponed three times due to covid or bad weather) I am doing a bonkers thing. I am going to jump out of a plane at 15,000ft, attached to a stranger who hopefully knows what they‘re doing, to do a skydive! Skydiving is something I wanted to do pre-children when I had no fear of heights. But since having my two small humans my fears have changed somewhat! So, to encourage me to actually jump out of the plane when I’m faced with the world 15,000ft below me I am going to try and raise some money for two causes.

The first charity I am hoping to raise money for is ‘Friends of Compass’. Compass - a pupil referral unit - is an alternative education provision for young people in Weymouth, Portland and surrounding areas. In order to provide some structure and routine for the young people during the school summer holidays we run a summer club. Any money I can raise will help to provide fun and engaging activities for them. The more time they are accessing activities with Compass, the less time they have to get themselves into trouble and the more time staff at Compass have to make a difference.

The second venture I am hoping to raise money for is Brooke’s Taekwondo Journey. Brooke is an incredibly talented young lady who has a passion for Taekwondo. At 7 years old she already trains hard, practices wherever she can, swims to build stamina and does gymnastics to improve flexibility. Brooke is the peewee 2019 British Open Poomsae champion. She also won silver at the 2019 British Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships in Manchester in November, Gold in Doncaster in July (her first competition) and Silver in Nottingham in October of the same year. Since returning to competitions, post-covid lockdowns, she has already earned a gold medal in the English Open Poomsae Championship, May 2021. She has multiple national and international competitions lined up this year! She travels to Doncaster regularly to train under a GB level coach! Obviously living down on the south coast and everything happening "up north" costs an awful lot. Half of the money I raise will go towards funding some of her competitions in 2021/22.
