I wasn't intending on running the Cardiff half marathon this year for charity, that was... until I came across The DB12 Foundation. Dave Beal (Danny's dad) is one of Jack's friends and his 12 year old son Daniel, died suddenly in June 2017. After hearing about the charity and the unbelievable work that they are doing, in the most tragic and incomprehensible circumstances, I wanted to try and do what I can to raise funds and awareness. I don't know how Dave does it and have nothing but complete admiration for him and what the charity is achieving in Danny's memory. I am not in great fitness at the moment but will be getting every hour of training in and "Doingit4Danny" will mean I will definitely get around the 13.1 miles on 1st October, no matter what!

Danny was a keen sportsman, an especially good rugby player, and always threw himself heart and soul into any sporting activity. In school work as well as at play, Danny always gave his best and approached every endeavour with an attitude and mind-set dedicated to fulfilling his potential. Always cheerful, full of encouragement for his colleagues, Danny led from the front and became a role model and inspiration to his peers.
In his memory, we have decided to establish a charity foundation that aims to help school students to maximise their potential in the way Danny always did. Using sports coaching to connect with students, we aim to use the values and attitudes common to many sports, to influence students in their approach to classroom learning.
This undertaking is going to become my life from now on. I promised Danny that I'd fight to leave him a legacy that he'd be proud of, and I believe this is it. We're in the early stages of planning and will be looking for all kinds of assistance in the coming months.
