Story

As you may have read on our Village Facebooks, The Argus and the Free Press the problem facing the Community and its Community Hall. About a month ago there was a complaint made by a local resident relating to the holding wall between the pavement on the New Road and the entrance drive to the Community Hall cark park. The Torfaen Borough Building Control Surveyor examined the site and issued the Trustee Board with a works order ordering the wall to be taken down and repaired. This as you can imagine has caused some very serious concerns as the first estimates of carrying out this work is somewhere between £ 20,000 and £ 30,000. The Hall is run by the Trustee Board of the Charity who raise the funds to ensure the Hall is maintained for our Community. They maintain reserves of approximately £ 5,000 and so one can see that these costs would bankrupt the Trust and could lead to the Hall being lost to our Community. The Hall is home to many groups and has been a central part of our community for 50 years. The Public Hall has provided an essential facility for the residents of New Inn and for countless village organisations. May it continue to do so for many years to come. If everyone in the village gives just a little then we can save this hall.
