Story
Between Christmas & New year I was taken into the Fraser ward at Nottingham hospital. I arrived late at night, it was dark, wet, and cold and I was in chronic pain. This is a time of year that you're meant to spend with loved ones, I was missing all the celebrations and even my friend's wedding, I was absolutely distraught But the staff on this ward could not have done more for me. They settled me into my own room and allowed me to decorate it, they were genuinely interested in talking to me about my photos, my family, my friends. They allowed me to have visitors with me any time of day or night my heart had been dislodged due to the size of tumours in my lung so it was recommended that I was not left alone, this is when my mum made the decision to always stay over night with me. The staff on the ward fully supported this and did everything they could to make my mum comfortable, however, there was at this time no guest bed for my mum to use so she spent her night's sleeping on the chair or on an air bed on the floor later in the year during my chemo the ward received a guest bed as a gift and my mum was the first to use it, this made such a difference to my mum but also to me, knowing that my mum would be more comfortable whilst being there to support me. This made us aware of the lack of resources available on these wards, when we went back in for further rounds of chemo the guest bed wasn't always available as sometimes other patients had it or it was being used on another ward. But when ever it was available the staff made sure we could use it. The staff on this ward are caring, thoughtful and dedicated. They give you their time and make sure you feel like you matter. There were times when I was admitted onto different wards, I would put my bottom lip out, stamp my feet and cry until I was moved onto the Fraser ward because their care made my horrendous time there so much better. I would really like to raise money to try and buy another guest bed for this ward

6 years agoThank you to everyone for your kind donations. So far we have raised just over £1800, which is amazing!!! One of the beds on the ward costs around £1000 so it would be great to get to £2000 so Hannah can donate two guest beds to the ward! Once again thank you for prizes, donations and cakes we really appreciate everything 💖

6 years agoHi everyone! Hannah is currently enjoying herself on holiday and so I have created the page on her behalf. If you are coming to the fundraisr there will be drinks ☕ cake 🍰 a tombola, sweets 🍬, games, a photo booth 📸 and picture quotes drawn by Hannah for sale. This is all happening between 11-3. It would be fantastic to see you all there and to try and raise as much money as possible. We would rather cash donations on the day as there is a small fee with just giving but if you aren't coming please feel free to donate below 😊
