I am going to be travelling to a refugee camp on the coast of the Greek mainland next month to volunteer with Syrian and Yazidi refugees being aided by the NGO Earth Refugee!

For two months I will be volunteering with refugee families, mostly assisting in social and educational activities, the sorting and distribution of clothing and hygiene products, and ...well, anything that is asked of me!

I am remarkably lucky to have been selected by this group, since this is one of the few camps that does offer beds and food (thanks to the Hellenic Navy). However, I am looking to raise a small amount to help defray the costs of the following:
two months use of a Greek sim card, transport from London to Athens and then from Athens to Sounio (and the return journey in January), a waterproof backpack, sleeping bag, the vaccines recommended by the Navy, power adaptors, and toiletries and vitamins.

Volunteers are also told that upon our arrival, ANY AND ALL donated funds we can gather ourselves are met with intense gratitude for the two categories constantly in short supply: supplies for infants (all those diapers!) and school supplies.

Once I buy my flights and supplies, all remaining money will go to Earth Refugee on my arrival. If you would like to specify that your donation goes to baby and school supplies instead of to my travel, please do so--I will honour all requests of that kind, without hesitation!
