Story
I wanted to do a YWAM DTS to have 5 months completely dedicated to strengthening my relationship with God while being surrounded by a group of people wanting to learn the same things. Plus, as a bonus I get to explore abroad for 5 months which is amazing 😁. During the first 3 months I will be in Wylie, Texas (near Dallas) where I’ll be learning about the Bible, getting involved in the local community and living in the local community on the Wylie campus. The final 2 months will be spent in an outreach location (in the Middle East/Central Africa - but to be confirmed). Here I will be sharing what I have learnt in Texas and will be helping and living with the local community too. Which sounds so exciting as I get to experience and learn about another culture/area and meet people I wouldn’t have had the pleasure to meet otherwise. I can’t wait to get involved with and help out another community - it’s all extremely exciting!
I’ve been so looking forward to spending my gap year abroad and felt very drawn to this particular YWAM Texas DTS. Click here to visit the YWAM Wylie website here. :) - so you can find out more about what I’ll be doing if you want to :). When looking at what DTS I wanted to do the Central Africa based ones, which I initially had my heart set on, but they I didn‘t feel like any of them were the correct course. Then during a shift at work I was reminded of one of the first videos I had seen about YWAM’s DTS, which was based in America. This particular course was mentioned out of the blue 2 more times that day (which just wasn’t a coinsidence) and after researching it, God chose me the perfect course that I would have always wanted to do. It’s extra adventure before I head to university in September 2020.
This fantastic course does need some fundraising, I will also be selling some of my animal watercolour prints (due to the many Facebook requests I have recieved - which has been lovely so thank you so much :) ), Christmas cards and I will be organising some fundraising events as we approach Bonfire night, Christmas (yay) and the New Year. If you would like to give a little bit to help, thank you so much. Please do message me if you have any questions or want to know more. Thank you so much for reading.
Love, Emily
