As many of you know, on January the 5th I will make my way to the YWAM (Youth With A Misson) base in Kona, Hawaii, where I'll attend a Discipleship Training School with a whole bunch of others!
YWAM is one of the largest Christian charitable volunteer organisations, with bases all over the world, and the DTS is essentially program for young adults who want to increase their knowledge and skills, and ultimately learn to use their God given gifts to help those in need.

I've always been quite a compassionate person with a desire to help people, especially those in unjust situations, such as victims of poverty, homelessness, and human trafficking. I'd been longing to find a plan for my life after Uni and after reading the NY Times bestseller 'The Purpose Driven Life', I felt called into this kind of mission work. There'll be endless opportunities to get involved with the local communities in Kona and the other countries that we get sent to in our breakaway groups, whether that be through help the homeless schemes, working with women and children at risk, assisting with healthcare and agriculture, education, outreach, bible-teaching and prayer.

I'm currently working to fund a large proportion of the costs, but we've also been asked to fund-raise as much as we can for YWAM.
With the help of my family and friends we held a really fun auction of promises/dinner event in October, which raised an incredible amount!
But the next big thing is an 18 mile point-to-point coastal trek. I wanted to really challenge myself and after a bit of training I know this definitely won't be easy, especially with the terrain and crazy cold winds along the coast!
