Story
I’m running the Inverness Baxter’s 10k on the 27th September 2026 for an incredible charity.
East Sutherland Rescue Association (ESRA) is an independent, volunteer-run charity that provides lifesaving search and rescue cover across the Dornoch Firth and the east coast of Sutherland. Formed in 1981 following concerns about the lack of local water rescue provision, the organisation was established to fund and operate an inshore lifeboat crewed entirely by trained volunteers. Within weeks of its formation, the team carried out its first successful rescue off Embo beach. Today, ESRA operates from Cadogan Lifeboat Station in Dornoch, responding to incidents involving people in danger on the water, supporting partner emergency services, and helping to keep local communities and visitors safe, entirely through charitable donations and volunteer commitment.
