I decided to start a new adventure in life, one that was completely out of my comfort zone. Coming from a very small town, I decided to pack up a suitcase and move to the United States of America to attend college. My hope was that I would gain confidence, whilst emerging myself in a new culture and working hard at university.
Once I moved to America, I focused on my education and produced grades better than I ever had before, even making it on the Deans list, which I never would have expected.
Unfortunately, my first year here was tough. Missing home, family and friends was difficult, but on top of that was a car accident during finals week, the loss of two family members and an emergency surgery just to top it all off. Even through all of these emotional and physical struggles, I made it my goal to battle through. I wanted to make my family and myself proud. I continued to earn the grades I wanted and I am now in my junior year.
As I am approaching my senior year, I am realising that I will not be able to fund this myself. The exchange rate recently dropped significantly which only worsened my problem.
With this, I have searched for scholarships, grants, loans and so on, but being an international student, these are not easily accessible.
All of my hard work and dedication was worth something, so I will continue to save money, and search for external funding such as scholarships.
In aiding this process, I am reaching out to anyone with anything to spare, even a pound, no amount is too small.
