Story

I am running a marathon to raise money to help buy new equipment to support the patients who attend the Oaks centre in Elgin. The Oaks provides care for those with a cancer diagnosis and supports others who have been affected. They help with physiotherapy to help build and maintain strength before and operations, they provide respite for carers, they help people move on with their life if their cancer goes into remission and provide support and information regarding all aspects of cancer care. They also provide support to those with other conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease and Multiple Sclerosis, and they are very involved in helping the continual assessment of care needed to allow people independence within their own homes. There are nurses and volunteers that provide care, home cooked food and activities during the day which allows patients a place to go that has an upbeat atmosphere and allows them to have some normality during a very traumatic time. They are always working to improve the services and support they offer and this includes the purchase of new equipment to be able to better help the patients who attend. They cannot do this without donations, so please please PLEASE consider sponsoring me, Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer, please help to offer them as much support as possible.
