Story

After experiencing several severe ear- infections as a baby, I was left with a severe hearing loss. Despite this I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 5 years old. Whilst I had NHS hearing aids growing up, they never enabled me to socialise or hear on the phone. At the age of 18 I bought my first private pair and was able to hear birds, air-conditioning, on the phone for the first time in my life. despite my disability, I have graduated with a 2:1 in Business and now work for a medical company. With less than 5 weeks until our wedding, my hearing aids have broken and I facing the prospect of having to cancel our wedding because I cant hear and I am relying on lip-reading, people writing things down. I realise there are people far deserving and worse off than me, but it would mean so much to me, if I could hear my husband say his vows to me, my guests laughing and speaking to me, the music for our first dance. Unfortunately, my financial situation means I‘m unable to obtain credit, because I was out of work (because of my hearing) a few years ago. My parents are retired and NHS ones won‘t come in time. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Emma Xx
