I volunteer at a local kennels, they board ex racing greyhounds for the RGT. I help to walk the dogs, have a play, and of course. . Kisses and cuddles.
There are 20-30+ greyhounds at any one time in the kennels, waiting for someone to give them their forever home. Unfortunately, many dogs are in the kennels for quite some time.
Many greyhounds are lucky and do have a successful adoption, but unfortunately there are greyhounds who do come back and forth to the kennels.
Greyhounds mainly just live in kennels during their racing career, they don't know anything about a home environment.
Greyhounds retire at all ages, there are greyhounds who just don't want to race as a pup, or greyhounds who race until they are 5-6+. Many greyhounds retire due to injury.
I currently have two ex racing greyhounds, I don't know where I'd be without them. If I could afford to keep more then I definitely would!
Greyhounds are not the most popular dog that people would look to adopt, but they really should be.
Greyhounds have such a good personality, they can be very funny, they are very loving, and are very good with children. Greyhounds only need a 20 minute walk a day, and they sleep for the majority of the day!
The kennels luckily have volunteers who walk them, give cuddles and kisses, and often. . Adopt them! I am a failed foster carer, I fostered for two days and just had to adopt.
Greyhounds need warmth and comfort, they feel the cold just like us humans do. Greyhounds don't have body fat like other breeds of dogs do.

please consider a greyhound as a pet, they make such a good addition to a family

I would love to raise enough money to buy beds, blankets, and kennel coats for the dogs to keep warm during the winter.
A greyhound coat can cost between £20-£25 each.
