Story

On the first Saturday in December every year, dedicated volunteers and supporters of We Shall Overcome come together to participate in a sponsored rough sleep. This event is not just a fundraiser; it is a powerful opportunity to raise awareness for our homeless and vulnerable friends who rely on our support. Our 'Rough Sleepers' carry only what they can manage, simulating the experience of those who genuinely face homelessness. They sleep at The Station or in their own gardens, yards, or wherever they can find a place to join in this important cause.

This one night may seem brief, but it serves as a stark reminder of the long, challenging nights faced by those living on the streets. It is an eye-opening experience that fosters empathy and understanding for their struggles. Each day, countless individuals depend on the kindness and generosity of others for basic necessities. One remarkable individual, Pauline Town, routinely feeds over 120 people every single day and provides unwavering support seven days a week throughout the year—except for Christmas Day when she dedicates her time to serving warm Christmas dinners to those in need.

We invite you to join us in this mission. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of those who are struggling. Together, we can raise £500 to continue providing essential services and support for our community's most vulnerable members. Every contribution counts, no matter how small—let's work together to create lasting change.
