Hello my name is Emma and I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2 and I am in desperate need of some new wheels!!! My current wheelchair is no longer fit for purpose for many reasons. My disability has deteriorated and I now struggle to drive my electric wheelchair due to the increased weakness in my hand and arm function as I find the control box really difficult to use. The seating no longer provides me with the correct support and comfort I need, due to this I am in great discomfort and pain daily and it is impacting on my daily life and precious time with my daughter and family.

You may or may not know but trying to fund a new electric wheelchair is a very long process and one that I have been trying to achieve for almost 4 years! People often think its a 'no brainer' you need an electric wheelchair, you will be provided with an electric wheelchair, however, unfortunately this is very much far from the truth.... due to the specialist seating and touch sensitive control box I need, my new wheelchair is going to cost a little over £32,000! I am hoping that I will receive approximately £5000 from wheelchair services and hopefully around £10000 contribution from DWP Access To Work. As you can see this will not cover the full cost of the wheelchair and the rest is down to me to find!

I would really appreciate any support you are willing to give to help me reach my goal of having an electric wheelchair that meets my needs. Achieving this goal will enable me to live my daily life, go to work and spend comfortable and quality time with my daughter.
