Emma and I were together for eight years. We struggled during that time and lost our children who were put into foster care. Even though we struggled, we loved each other and somehow always managed to muddle through and make the most of life.

In July Emma got sick and kept going to the doctor with chest infections, but they said nothing was wrong and just sent her home with asthma pumps. One day she was walking round town with her friend and became very breathless and couldn't breathe. They went up to Bronglais and was admitted for a week before coming home. She was home for two days and then I had to take her back again. She started coughing up blood whilst she was in the hospital and they moved her to Prince Phillip hospital in Llanelli, where they carried out a CT scan. This showed a shadow that covered most of the right lung and the doctors thought she might have cancer.

Prince Phillip carried out the CT scan on the Monday, she died on the Thursday morning of that week at 04.30 in the morning. The hospital had called me around midnight and told me to come back as her condition was critical. I sat by her bed, told her that I loved her and she squeezed my hand. As she took her final breath, she moved my hand to cover her chest.

Emma and I were soul mates, I have never loved anyone like I loved her, and I don't think I ever will. I am setting up this fund raising page as it is going to cost me £2,500 to pay for a basic funeral. I will receive £750 from the DWP but have to find the rest myself. I am appealing to anyone who could contribute anything in any small way.

I have moved out of my home as there are too many memories of her for me to stay there, and am currently staying with family. Everything I had is up for sale on swap shop, even though I don't think I will get very much for it, and I will put that money towards the funeral expenses.

My heart is breaking as I prepare for her cremation, and I am saddened that I have to ask other people to help me, but I just don't have any other option.
